Welcome to ISEGA
We are a modern analytical laboratory as well as an acknowledged certification body for a multitude of issues and areas of daily life.
Chemistry – Physics– Microbiology – Sensory analyses – Compostability
ISEGA – at a glance
ISEGA has been a research institute in the field of paper, board and food packaging for 50 years now.
Our laboratory provides a wide range of analysis services in the fields of enviroment, materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and materials testing.
The good quality of a product can lead to the issuance of a certification in the form of a declaration of compliance after a successful examination.
We might be able to offer you a prospect for your future.
Events: Looking back at the VFV Lecture Event on 24 April 2018
The 150 participants were offered information about the current evaluation of food contact materials in presentations held by national and international experts on 24 April 2018 in Aschaffenburg. Against the backdrop of the yearly Hamburg fish market, the event also afforded a welcome opportunity for personal professional exchange with the colleagues present from the whole breath of value-added chain.
NEWS: ISEGA supports you on your way towards the BPI compostable label
ISEGA qualified for a new certification program launched by DIN CERTCO and the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI). Since march 2018, we can offer you all tests required for a certification of your compostable products according to ASTM D 6400 and ASTM D 6868 for the US and Canadian market.
NEWS: Another brazen certification fraud
It has come to our attention that another falsified ISEGA certificate of compliance is currently in circulation. The product Fleischpapier from company Hellblut GmbH & Co. KG was neither tested nor approved by us for the given purpose.
Certificates are unfortunately likely to be falsified whenever the products are not suitable for the intended purpose and would not have been compliant with the respective regulations during testing. We can only urge extreme caution when you encounter such products.
NEWS: Accreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025
The successful continuation of our accreditation according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 until 2022 has been confirmed with the receipt of our new accreditation certificate to the extent you are already familiar with by the German Accreditation Body DAkkS.
NEWS: A picture paints a thousand words
It has come to our attention that there are flyers and websites circulating that promote their products with a "ISEGA Approved for Direct Food Contact" logo. We would like our clients and all interested buyers to note that this logo was not created or authorized by us and does not make any statment relating to our certificates of compliance or stamps. We expressly distance ourselves from this sign and do not aceept any responsibility connected to its use.
We gladly award our signet "Product Safety with Letter and Seal" for products which have been successfully certified by us. It always comes with the registered number of the respective certificate of compliance so that all parties involved can easily trace to which extent and based on which regulations the product is approved for food contact.
NEWS: ISEGA diversifies field of compostability testing
Controversial discussions about disposable plastic bags, increasing use of bioplastics for packaging as well as the evaluation criteria for compostable materials in general led to a rising significance of non-industrially compostable materials.
In this regard, DIN CERTCO launched the certification program 'Products made of compostable materials for home and garden composting' which is based on the standards NF T51-800 and AS 5810. In January 2017, ISEGA gained full authorization to conduct all comprised tests.
NEWS: Certification Fraud
A falsified ISEGA certificate of compliance with registered number 45763 T 16 is circulating in Spain. The product SellophaneRool was neither tested nor approved by us for the given purpose. Users of this product act at their own risk.
Training: ISEGA Customer Workshop
Since our last customer workshops were very well received, we have been getting an increasing number of enquiries to hold such a general training focussing on "packaging in contact with food" also for our English-speaking clients. Are you a newcomer in this field and are interested in such a workshop?
Then please let us know (Dr. Katja Zechmann email@example.com or +49 6021/4989-29).
We would very much appreciate hearing from you since preparing such a workshop in English will only be worthwhile for us if enough persons (i.e. at least 15 participants) are interested. We are planning to present similar topics as we do in the past German trainings in our facilities in Aschaffenburg. The linked agenda based on our last Customer Workshop can serve as an example. First of all, we will highlight the legal provisions for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. Based on this, the specifics of materials like plastics, board and paper and their finished forms (printing, lacquering etc.) will be discussed. Further emphasis will be put on the sensory evaluation and the microbiological examination as well as the final product certification. Also toxicological aspects and the role of the surveillance authorities will be considered.
This training is no competition but an addition to our annual VFV Lecture Event „Trends in the field of European Food Packaging“ on 25 April 2017.
Events: Poster Presentation at the ILSI Symposium
We will present our results on the extraction of dialkylketones as hydrolysis products of diketenes from paper and board in comparison to the migration into fatty foodstuffs at ILSI's 6th International Symposium on Food Packaging from 16 to 18 November 2016 in Barcelona. It will also be discussed how this pertains to the evaluation of migration limit values.
Events: VFV Lecture Event 2019
The yearly Lecture Event of the VFV "Trends in the field of European Food Packaging" offers interesting presentations on various topis related to food packaging manufacture, converting and analysis.
